Ellipse IPL Photo Rejuvenation

Everybody loves the sunshine with the effects it has on the skin such as a tan and healthy glow are much desired. However, in the long term, sun exposure decreases the production of collagen, which in turn causes damage and leads to uneven pigmentation, redness and lack of firmness. Photo rejuvenation treatments leave you looking younger and fresher with smoother skin. Age spots and diffused redness are removed with sun damage and pigmentation reduced. Ellipse is clinically proven and effective with all parts of the skin and body being safely treated.

How does the treatment work?

Age spots and hyper pigmentation contain melanin and diffuse redness contains haemoglobin. The light is absorbed by the melanin and haemoglobin in the pigmented area and the heat reaction caused breaks down the melanin in the keratinocytes. A photo toxic reaction occurs in the melanin vesicles and the excess melanin turns darker before it comes away from the skin.

How long does the treatment take?

A single session typically lasts 10-20 minutes.

Does it hurt?

It will vary from client to client. The sensation that is felt depends upon the amount of melanin found in the skin. The sensation is described as a heat sensation and a few clients compare it to mild sunburn after the treatment.  You may find it comforting to cool the skin after the treatment with 100% pure Aloe Vera Gel.

What can I expect?

The pigmentation will become darker in colour immediately after the treatment. A few days after the treatment the pigmented areas will develop a light crust (this is a good sign that the treatment has worked). After that the skin will look smoother and fresher.

How many treatments are needed for best results?

On average 1 – 3 treatments at 4 week intervals are needed for the best results. Top up treatments may be needed in the future to maintain these results. The treatment is based on light absorption in melanin and haemoglobin, therefore treatments are more effective on light skin that is not sun tanned at the time of treatment. However, Ellipse has pre-programmed settings so all skin tones can ensure they will receive the correct energy output for their complexion.

Do I need to take special precautions before and after treatment?

You must refrain from smoking 4 hours prior to your treatment and stop taking anti-inflammatories 7 days before your treatment. It is important to avoid hair removal such as waxing etc. avoid tanning (sun, solarium or self-tanning cream) 30-60 days before and during the treatment period. Tanned skin will absorb more light which will make the treatment more painful and will put you at risk of burning. People with sensitive skin may benefit from using 100% pure Aloe Vera Gel for a few days after treatment. We recommend you limit sun exposure and use a sunscreen (SPF 60) for a few weeks following treatment.

How can I be sure Ellipse is safe and effective?

Clinical trials documenting Ellipse’s safety and effectiveness are carried out by leading doctors prior to the release of the product. The results of these tests are then published in respected, refereed medical journals. You are welcome to view these scientific papers on the Ellipse website at www.ellipse.org.
